“Forgotten French, rising from ashes in Brda”

The variety is known under several names, such as Green Sauvignon, Sauvignon vert in Italy is called Friulano or even Jakot. Sauvignonasse was brought to Brda approximately 200 years ago and found shortly its place in local’s vineyards.

On our farm we have recognised the potential of variety for production of high quality grapes, which can be used for making recognisable, authentic wines. For years, we are convinced in the potential of the variety which is revealed in the top quality sauvignonasse wines that we produce every year.

The variety has cordate three to five lobbed leaves that are dark green on the top and lighter in colour on the bottom side.

Bunch is elongated, with one or two wings, medium compact. Berries are round or ellipse shaped, golden-yellow when ripe. Sauvignonasse is suited for well drained limestone and flysch soils.

 Variety is trellised to Sylvoz, a traditional trellis system used previously in Brda. We believe that traditional vine trellis system and permanent cover crop result in grapes of the highest quality.

Sauvgnonasse is not forgotten on our farm. The hard work can be revealed in characteristic, vivid, fruity wines.

VARIETY SAUVIGNONASSE

CHARACTERISTICS

The wine is characterized by a pleasant yellow colour with golden notes. The nose is floral. In the wine you will find chamomile, pine needles, almonds and apricots. The mouthfeel is full, rich, complex, but at the same time it is fresh and mineral.

OUR RECOMMENDATION

We recommend our Sauvignonnase with seasonal dishes such as various minestrones, grilled vegetables, cooked asparagus, rice and pasta, or even scampi and fish. Do not forget, the wine should be served at temperatures between 8 and 10 °C.
